When Edo shogunate(government) started, fishermen from Tsukuda and a Shinto priest from Sumiyoshi Shrine (Present Tanomi-jinja Shrine) in Osaka went down to Edo with a branch of the spirit (Wakemitama). The origin of Sumiyoshi Shrine (Tsukuda 1 -1 -14) is that it was enshrined on the island in 1646. At the entrance of Edo Minato, the shrine that enshrines Sumiyoshi Sanjin, the god of the sea, was worshipped by sailors.
